Bring your Letterboxd films into Movie Bot, keep a backup, or convert files in your browser.
Choose import, export or file conversion
Import saves supported film records to your Movie Bot account. Export downloads your existing account data. Local conversion prepares Letterboxd-compatible film CSVs without connecting an account.
Selecting a file only reads it in your browser. Nothing is uploaded until you choose Preview account import. Nothing is sent to Letterboxd automatically.
Connect your Movie Bot account
Complete the first-time tutorial in a Discord server, then run /settings website there. Paste the private single-use code into the Connection code field on Import or Export and choose Connect account within 10 minutes.
The connection lasts 30 minutes. Refreshing the page requires a new code; using the Import and Export links keeps the connection. Running /settings website again disconnects your previous session. Never share the code or enter your Discord password.

On Import, choose your Letterboxd export ZIP or supported CSV files. Check the File preview, category counts and film titles. For a CSV with a custom filename, choose its category before selecting the file.
Connect your account, choose Preview account import, then Confirm and import to save the records. Keep my Movie Bot profile private while I review this import is selected by default; check /settings privacy before sharing afterward.
Films are matched by title and year. Ambiguous matches are skipped and reported. Repeated imports are deduplicated, but imported ratings can update your existing ratings. Account imports do not restore TV progress, lists or settings from a Movie Bot backup, and Movie Bot does not store diary tags.
Download a full backup or Letterboxd CSVs
Connect on Export and choose Download full backup for your personal Movie Bot data as JSON and spreadsheet-safe CSVs, including TV progress, lists and settings. Keep the original ZIP somewhere private; the website film importer is not a full-account restore tool.
Choose Download Letterboxd CSVs for films only: diary, ratings, reviews, watched titles and watchlist. TV progress, lists and settings are excluded from this download. Import watchlist.csv through Letterboxd’s separate watchlist importer and preview title matches before confirming there.
You can still use /profile export inside Discord for a private account download.

On either page, choose a Letterboxd export or a Movie Bot JSON/ZIP backup without connecting. Read the File preview, then download individual category CSVs or choose Download converted ZIP. Conversion stays on your device and does not change your Movie Bot account.
Supported film categories are diary, ratings, reviews, watched titles and watchlist. Matching diary entries and reviews are combined while rewatches, review text, spoiler flags and tags are preserved. TV records, lists, account settings and Letterboxd profile details, likes, deleted or orphaned entries are excluded. Keep the original export or full backup for anything excluded.
Choose one ZIP or JSON file, or up to five CSVs, with a total size of 16 MiB or less. CSV files must use UTF-8. Files with malformed rows must be corrected or replaced with the original export.
Check progress or recover an interrupted import
The Import page shows progress and counts for imported, duplicate, unmatched and failed records. You can leave the page after the import starts; reconnect and choose Check latest import to see its result.
After a timeout, check the latest import before submitting again. For an interrupted or failed job, choose the same export again; completed records are deduplicated. Account previews expire after 10 minutes, so preview the file again if confirmation expires.
If the account service is unavailable, local file conversion still works. Keep connection codes, exported files and private reviews out of public support channels.
